Janet (deceased) was born at Old Flora Valley Station east of Halls Creek. Her parents were Jaru, her mother was from Billiluna Community and her father from Balgo Wirrimanu. Janet fondly remembered growing up on the station and going hunting and fishing with the old people.

After marrying and living on Kirkimbie Station in the Northern Territory for some years Janet moved back to the East Kimberley and lived between Halls Creek, Kununurra and Billiluna for many years.

In the late 1990's Janet moved to Halls Creek and began painting food plants and animals that she grew up with. In latter years her work was about places on her country. Her favourite subjects included Brolga and water plants. She painted daily at Yarliyil Arts where she became one of the foremost senior members of the arts community.
