Lorraine Stretch
Lorraine was born and grew up in Halls Creek. Her mother was a Kija woman from Alice Downs Station and her father was a Ngardi man from Lake Stretch or Nyarna near Billiluna.
Her parents met at Moola Bulla government settlement near Halls Creek after being taken from their families when young.
Lorraine began painting in 2016, influenced by stories of her father's father, the renown stockman Wally Dowling, who drove cattle along the Canning Stock Route from Billiluna to Wiluna.
She also paints about traditional bush foods, medicines and animals from both Halls Creek country and her desert country.
