This is Louisa Downs Station between Halls Creek and Fitzroy Crossing where I grew up and learned to be a drover and horseman.
I am painting the country at sunrise when the colours are often very deep and strong and the day is just beginning.
All of the animals are awake and moving around at sunrise, so this is when we like to be up and about gathering bush tucker. The Emu are enjoying the cool morning air and there are wild passionfruit growing all around the waterholes.
