469-26 Camp Life in the Old Days. 76x36cm acrylic on canvas

In the old days our people camped in places where we could find water and plenty of good bush foods and animals to hunt.

Fires were lit at night to cook food, keep people warm, provide light and also to keep dangerous animals away.

The Humpy's that we built for shelter were mad from paperbark. The small paperbark tree used to make Humpies was called 'Yarliyil'.
